How will you make an impact as an Accountant in the Property Team

You will be working within the Embark Property team and be responsible for accurate day-to-day financial accounting of the property book we administer for our clients. You will manage complex cases requiring detail reconciliation of historic positions.

You will also have responsibility for business process management within Embark Property to ensure Financial Accounting meets the requirements of all stakeholders, and assist with the migration of this business to our new Pension Administration Platform ensuring that all financial data is transferred accurately.

What your day will look like

  • Have responsibility for smooth functioning of the accounting process for the Embark Property team, including supporting the Property Administrators with posting transactions and resolving any issues with detail coding
  • Extract data from system necessary to compile periodic VAT calculations, managing and reconciling the bank accounts used for the payment of VAT
  • Assist the Property Administrators with provision of tenant analysis and statements of account
  • Manage a small portfolio of complex cases involving, for example, tenants in financial difficulty
  • Act as the lead Accounting specialist during migration of business unit to new software platform and following migration identify opportunities to be more efficient and improved service provision

Who you are and the experience we’re looking for

  • Be a recently qualified accountant or have equivalent experience
  • An understanding of the financial life cycle of a property investment, the accounting for purchases, financial activity during ownership, and sale of properties
  • Experience in developing and operating controls to gain assurance that data is accurate
  • Experience of VAT relating to commercial property and SIPP or SSAS pension schemes would be desirable  
  • Sound knowledge of all Microsoft Applications.
