Risk Manager - Risk and Compliance

How will you make an impact 

Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, you will be responsible for the ongoing review and effective management of the Platform Risk Governance for Embark Platform and Advance by Embark.

You will support the continuous improvement of Risk Management Framework; regular reporting of the firm’s risk profile to Executive Committees; overseeing the RCSA process and providing independent challenge to business management on their assessment of risks; driving awareness amongst staff; and, ensuring appropriate risk and compliance related guidance, training, systems and tools are available across business functions to facilitate the management of risk.

You will also work closely with the Group Risk Function and on occasion deputise for the Chief Risk Officer to provide specialist support across the wider leadership team. 

What your day will look like 

  • Promoting risk management and compliance best practice across the organisation;
  • Developing training materials and rolling out risk and compliance related training;
  • Supporting the first line teams in the management of operational risk events, providing guidance and challenge as required and preparing reports for senior managers;
  • Identification of control weaknesses and implementation of procedures to improve risk management and operational controls across the business;
  • Designing the testing approach and overseeing the testing and assurance of processes and controls, as part of the Risk Assurance Plan, Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and Event Management processes;
  • Drafting, preparing and submitting relevant reports, notifications and returns to the FCA and other relevant bodies, as well as to senior management;
  • Drafting of Risk & Compliance Reports for Committees and Boards;
    Maintaining up to date knowledge of relevant FCA and other regulatory/legislative developments (COBS, DISP, SYSC) to identify actions required to ensure continued compliance with new regulations and industry best practice governance arrangements; 
  • Contributing to regular updates of the Internal Capital and Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Processes (ICAAP and ILAAP).

Who you are and the experience we’re looking for

  • Experience in a financial institution or banking environment, preferably in a control capacity (Internal Audit, Risk or Compliance). 
  • Detailed knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks and experience in the design, delivery and implementation of Risk Framework, Risk Appetite, Policy and ICAAP within a regulated environment;
  • Strong awareness and understanding of conduct risk and the delivery of fair customer outcomes;
  • Practical experience of building effective relationships with senior executives across a range of functions
  • Ability to manage and guide a dedicated Risk & Compliance Analysts, sharing own knowledge and experience
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality.
