Fund Accountant

This role is with Rowanmoor Executive Pensions Limited, part of the Embark Group.

 

 

What you’ll do

In your role as Fund Accountant in Bolton, you will receive a bespoke structured training programme, coupled with an excellent rewards and benefits package. You will work in a supportive, friendly working environment and be part of a great team.

You will be supporting the delivery of excellent customer service by preparing and issuing accounts and returns for pension schemes administered by the Company, in accordance with procedures, standards and controls.  

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare and issue the annual report and accounts for pension schemes
  • Review scheme files and documents such as trust deeds, property leases and valuation reports, in order to gain an understanding of what has or should have occurred during a ‘scheme year’ in relation to the income and expenditure streams, capital movements both in and out, as well as investments and disinvestments made, realised and unrealised capital gains/losses and changes in value
  • Posting from bank statements to trial balance stage and obtaining supporting documentation
  • Control account reconciliations, year-end adjustments, accruals and prepayments and the maintenance of a professionally constructed working-papers file, providing both an audit trail and ease of reviewing
  • Completion and submission of HMRC generated annual tax returns (SA970) and the registered pension scheme return (RPSR), ensuring regulatory deadlines are met
  • Maintain and update internal spreadsheets.  Ensure that records are updated and completed to meet Company requirements and maintain the integrity of our database and client records.

 

 

 

Who you are and the experience we’re looking for

Delivering excellence is no easy task, particularly when you are transforming a business. So we’re looking for someone with the right experience and behaviours to join our team. The 'DNA’ we look for starts with high proactivity and tenacity, the desire to deliver service excellence, attention to detail and a passion for both innovation and continuous improvement. As well as this, you will need to have:  

  • Studying for a minimum AAT Level 2 standard or equivalent
  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • Strong numeracy skills and competent in processing numerical data. (GCSE Maths and English grade C or above required)
  • A working understanding of ledgers and double entry bookkeeping is desired
  • Previous knowledge and experience of the preparation of pension scheme accounts is not essential, as full on the job training and supervision will be given
  • Working knowledge and experience of Word, Excel, Outlook and Accounting Preparation Packages is desired. VAT and PAYE experience would be advantageous
