Head of Reward and Benefits

Embark has grown rapidly over the past seven years and we have no plans to stop! As a Group made up of multiple subsidiaries sitting in both regulated and non regulated environments, we have created an opportunity to join a highly ambitious HR department as our first Head of Reward and Benefits. The Group believes in meritocracy and has taken great strides forward in building the foundations of our reward and benefits packages to position ourselves as an employer of choice. However, we want to achieve much more. 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team to develop and lead our strategy on reward. You’ll lead a team of two and have accountability for the full reward and benefits cycle in both our regulated and non regulated entities. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Actively develop and evolve the reward function, including executive compensation, reporting, fixed and variable pay, benefits and payroll
  • Use your commercial awareness and professional expertise to plan and deliver the best possible reward and benefits strategy for our employee base throughout the Group
  • Design reward strategies, linking pay to corporate performance and taking in to account regulator and corporate governance requirements in a commercial and accessible way
  • Lead the preparation of key Remuneration Committee papers, providing input and insight from your market and industry knowledge
  • Lead and deliver the annual pay and benefits processes in conjunction with the wider HR department
  • Work closely with Company Secretariat and leading as appropriate, the delivery maintenance and evolution of the Long Term Incentive Programme.

Who you are and the experience we’re looking for

The ‘DNA’ we look for starts with high proactivity and tenacity, the desire to deliver service excellence, attention to detail and a passion for both innovation and continuous improvement. As well as this, you will need to have:

  • Financial Services experience is essential – our Group encorporates both Enhanced SMCR and Significant IFPRU firms. The role holder will require a good working knowledge of remuneration codes relevant to both of these environments as well as a good understanding of the FCA rules around remuneration
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Chartered CIPD membership strongly advantageous and/or Professional Membership of REBA (or relevant alternate experience of 3 years + in a Senior Reward position)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail – do it well, first time
  • A curiosity to keep learning and improving what we do looking for positive opportunities for improvement in all we do.
