Operational Tax Manager

This role is within Embark Investment Services Limited, part of the Embark Group.

 

What you’ll do

In your role as an Manager in the Operational Tax team, you will be responsible for completing reports required by HMRC, IRS and other relevant tax authorities, focusing on completion of key returns such as ISAs, Qualified Intermediary, FATCA and CRS for example.  This will include working collaboratively with the business areas to implement appropriate processes and controls to support compliance. You will lead the Op Tax activity for the business and be the SME for matters relating to this discipline.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the Operational Tax function as the key contact point for all relevant authorities (e.g. HMRC, IRS, FCA etc)
  • Own the drafting and submission of Operational Tax reporting, including ISAs, Qualified Intermediary (US and Irish QI), FATCA and Common Reporting Standards)
  • Identification of any changes to the relevant regime and working with the business areas to enact the required changes to processes and procedures
  • Ability to obtain information / data from internal and external sources
  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Be able to work as part of a team and independently
  • Take ownership of your day-to day-work
  • Completing in house training / eLearning within required timeframe
  • Ensuring service standard are met consistently and with accuracy
  • Supporting any appropriate duties as requested by your line manager

  • High level of numeracy
  • Excellent data manipulations skills using Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills- Access, Word, Power Point
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding of the constraints of using confidential and client data
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a comparable role with knowledge of HMRC and reporting, and experience in confidently communicating with regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to analyse and implement change in a fast-moving environment
  • Demonstrable skills in following an organised, methodical and logical approach to reporting.
  • The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to be a responsible team member who works for the benefit of their team, the department and the Company.
  • Appropriate professional tax qualifications or proven by experience capability in the subject matter is desirable
